What is Radiesse?
Radiesse is a long lasting injectable implant/dermal filler, which is composed of synthetic calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) microspheres, suspended in a gel carrier. These microspheres, once injected, provide a scaffolding, into which the body's own tissue can grow, thereby maintaining the implant in place.

CaHA is a biomaterial with over twenty years of use in orthopaedics, neurosurgery, dentistry and ophthalmology and is the primary mineral constituent of bone and teeth. Radiesse is created by suspending CaHA in a common water based carrier. Because the characteristics are similar to bone and teeth, it is naturally compatible with the body. Radiesse is synthetic and man made, similar to a calcium phosphate and has been extensively tested in clinical trials for over 7 years, with good safety and efficacy results.

Where can Radiesse filler be used?

  • Glabella (wrinkles between the eyebrows)
  • Nasolabial folds (laughter lines)
  • Radial lip lines
  • Chin / cheek augmentation
  • Hands
  • Depressed scars
  • Restoring bulk to ageing/hollowed tissue

The Radiesse Process
The procedure for administering Radiesse is straightforward. Firstly a clinical history is taken all aspects of the treatment outcome will be explained. The area to be treated will then be numbed with local anaesthetic. Then the Radiesse is administered by simple injections just under the skin layer to help plump and smooth the lines. The procedure will take around 30 minutes. After the procedure, some patients resume normal activities immediately, although others prefer to wait for 24 hours, as swelling or redness may occur at the site of the injection.

How long does Radiesse filler last?
Depending on the area being treated, patients will usually see results that last between 1-2 years. However, individual results may vary, depending on a number of factors including age, lifestyle and skin type.

Radiesse cosmetic facial filler is fully approved for facial augmentation with CE mark certification and a number of USA FDA clearances.

How Sculptra Works.
As we age, our skin cells divide more slowly and the innermost layer begins to thin. Fat cells beneath the dermis weaken and the once strong network of collagen and elastin fibres begin to unravel resulting in the skin losing elasticity and volume. The result is the appearance of lines and wrinkles and the loss of volume and shape in the face.

Sculptra is injected into areas of volume loss in the face to restore the rounder more youthful facial shape. It stimulates new collagen resulting in a long lasting natural look.

Collagen is the substance your body produces to give your skin a firm and youthful appearance. You also lose fat tissue which maintains the fullness of your face so your face becomes thin and narrow, making you look older. Sculptra helps your skin to replace lost collagen to smooth lines and wrinkles, helping you to look younger naturally.

Why Sculptra?
Sculptra works gradually to give a natural effect. Usually 2-3 treatments are required and results should be noticeable after approximately 6 weeks, however, in some patients this may take longer or require more treatments).

Clinical studies have shown that the results of Sculptra can last between 2 and 4 years following your last treatment, significantly longer than many other injectable treatments.

Why is Sculptra different?
A number of choices are available to you when you are deciding on treatment. Common temporary fillers do not provide long term reduction of wrinkles and creases, and their results are often short-lived; meaning that you may have to return many times to treat the same line again.

Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that reduces lines, wrinkles and folds and replaces the fullness of the face that has been lost by the ageing process. Sculptra works by stimulating your own facial collagen production to replenish your skin, providing a natural looking result. It works gradually to restore what has been lost and once your treatment plan is complete, the results can last for more than 2 years.
